Born in Philadelphia in 1949. Currently residing in central Vermont


Education

  • Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia and Rome, Italy studying printmaking with Romas Vieselas and Lillian Lent, and Pottery with Robert Winokur and Rudy Staffels, drawing with Neal Kosh. 1967-1970
  • Apprenticed to Marco Zubar, Stained glass Artist in Philadelphia, summer of 1969
  • Apprenticed to Paula Pomerantz, potter, to learn glaze chemistry, 1970
  • Transferred in 1970 to and graduated from Antioch College, 1971.
  • My real education took place during my childhood in the studios of my parents’ friends and in my teenage years in the studios of my own friends: Beaulah Marx, Martha Erlebacher, Mitzi Melnicoff, Jeanette Kohn, Katherine Blumenthal, Walter Erlebacher, Natalie Charkow, Bernie Brenner, and Wharton Esherick.

Teaching experience

  • Set up and taught the Crafts Program at Old Westbury College, SUNY, 1970-1971.
  • Taught Art Rochester Elementary and High School 1973- 1976
  • Taught many workshops and served on the jury at Frog Hollow State Craft Center, Middlebury, Vermont, 1972-1982.
  • Ongoing teaching adults and children in my studio since 1975, classes in clay work, figure sculpture, life drawing, and painting.
